Mr Jones Machine
As possibly Sweden's finest synthpop act you find the original duo of brothers Jarmo Ollila and Jouni Ollila (famous from acts like Daily Planet, Pouppée Fabrikk, La Vouge etc) later joined by their good friend Magnus Lindström on tour and becoming a permanent member on the following albums to date.
The production, the melodies and not least a strong personal vocal performance has brought them to the absolute top among the classic synthpop-acts in Scandinavia.
Mr Jones Machine rocket started their career with 2005's success album "New Wave". An album with English lyrics about the glamorous life and its flipsides, performed with great sincerity and respect for the new wave and new romantic heritage of classic synthpop.
The second and third albums Återvändsgränd (2007. Roughly translated "One way street"/"Cul De Sac") and Monokrom (2010) were recorded in Swedish, marking a clear statement towards honing the Swedish synthpop heritage of 80's bands like Lustans Lakejer and Tredje Mannen that recorded almost exclusively with Swedish lyrics.
On Återvändsgränd you can hear the influences musically from those bands very clearly, and that is obvious still on Monokrom though many elements on the third album can be traced back to Midge Ure-era Ultravox albums like Quartet (1982) and Lament (1984).
Mr Jones Machine find their home on Swedish electronic label Progress Productions together with acts like Necro Facility, Hype, Cryo, Sturm Café and 8kHz Mono. Their name is an homage to 80's super electronic band Adolphson & Falk's song Mr. Jones Maskin. Read more on Last.fm.
